BOATLUX handles the applicable cleaning, maintenance, storage and operational processes.

Your day on the water ends when you leave the dock.

Unlimited use

More time on the water.

BOATLUX ownership is designed around unlimited use, not a fixed number of boating days a year. You book the time you want through smart scheduling, within the availability and the rules that apply to each boat and program.

  • Smart scheduling

Reserve your time on the water through the BOATLUX scheduling system.

  • Subject to availability

Time on the water depends on the boat’s schedule and on the bookings already made.

  • Program rules

Each boat and program has its own usage rules, shared with you before you join.

“Unlimited” means there is no fixed annual day count. It does not guarantee availability on any specific date or at any exact time.

Ownership structure

A clear structure for shared ownership.

Each boat is held through an ownership entity — typically an LLC — and multiple ownership interests can participate in the same boat. The structure can vary by boat and program, so BOATLUX doesn’t set a fixed number of owners or shares.

  1. The boat

    One boat, professionally managed.

  2. The ownership entity

An LLC structure holds the boat.

  3. Ownership interests

Owners hold interests in the entity.

How shared ownership works

01

The ownership entity

The boat is held by an ownership entity, typically an LLC, rather than by one person. Owners acquire an interest in that entity.

02

Your ownership interest

Your interest, and the rights that come with it, are described in the ownership documents for your boat. You review them before you commit.

03

Sharing the boat

Multiple ownership interests can participate in the same boat. The number of interests varies by boat and program. Time on the water is booked through smart scheduling, within availability and the program rules.

04

Day-to-day management

Insurance, maintenance, storage and preparation are coordinated through the applicable BOATLUX operation.

05

Selling or upgrading

Ownership interests can be transferred according to your ownership documents, and your local franchise assists with the process. Resale value and timing are not guaranteed.

06

Before you decide

Read the ownership documents and speak with your own legal, tax and financial advisers.

This is a general overview, not legal, tax or financial advice. The binding terms are in the ownership documents of each boat and program.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

The essentials of shared ownership, in plain language. Can’t find yours? Tell us what you’re looking for.

Do I actually own part of the boat?

Yes. You acquire an ownership interest in the entity (LLC structure) that holds the boat. Your ownership documents describe your interest and your rights in detail.

How is BOATLUX different from a boat club?

A boat club sells a membership to use a shared fleet: you pay an initiation fee and monthly dues, but you never own a boat. With BOATLUX you own a share of a specific boat through its ownership entity, share its operating costs with the other owners of that boat, and can sell or transfer your share. BOATLUX still handles management, maintenance, storage and preparation.

How does the ownership structure work?

Each boat is held by its own ownership entity, and multiple ownership interests participate in the same asset. The number of interests can vary by boat and program.

How does unlimited use work?

There is no traditional fixed number of annual days. You book through the smart scheduling system, subject to availability and the applicable rules of each boat and program.

How does scheduling work?

Owners reserve time through the BOATLUX scheduling system, designed to distribute access fairly among the owners of each boat.

What is GIU?

GIU — Global International Use — lets eligible owners potentially access BOATLUX boats in other participating markets, subject to availability and program rules.

Can I use boats in other locations?

Through GIU, eligible owners may access boats in participating locations across the international BOATLUX network.

Who manages maintenance?

BOATLUX coordinates scheduled and necessary maintenance through the local operation, so your boat is ready when you are.

Who manages insurance?

Insurance is managed through the applicable BOATLUX operation.

Who handles storage?

Professional storage and care are handled by the local BOATLUX operation.

Can I use a captain?

Yes — a captain can be available when needed or selected according to the applicable operation.

Can I sell my ownership interest?

Ownership interests can be transferred according to your ownership documents. Your local franchise assists with the process.

What happens if I want to upgrade?

Talk to your local franchise about moving to a different boat or share as inventory becomes available.

Where are BOATLUX boats available?

Current locations include Florida, California, Brazil and the UAE, with new markets, including Europe, coming soon.
